Your Linux has an update manager. Think of it as a family doctor: it reliably looks after every program in its own files — and that is most of them.

But anything you obtained elsewhere is not in those files. A file you downloaded from a website. A program an installer script dropped somewhere. An AppImage in your Downloads folder.

Es verschweigt nichts. Was es nicht prüfen konnte, wird gelb gemeldet statt stillschweigend als „aktuell" ausgegeben.
Quelle unbekannt? Dann trägst du sie mit Eintragen selbst nach — einmal, danach kennt es das Programm.
Es gibt Bescheid, wenn etwas ansteht, auch ohne offenes Fenster.

Datei von Hand holen. Seit 2.37 geht es auch anders: Rikus Updateall hat eine
eigene Paketquelle. Das ist dieselbe Technik, mit der dein System auch alle anderen
Programme aktuell hält. Du trägst sie einmal ein — danach erscheint jede neue Fassung
ganz normal bei deinen Systemaktualisierungen, ohne dass du etwas tun musst.
Until now you had to come back to this page for every new version and fetch the
file by hand. Since 2.37 there is another way: Rikus Updateall has its
own package source. It is the same technique your system uses to keep all other
programs current. You add it once — after that every new version simply shows up with
your normal system updates, with nothing left for you to do.

One plain sentence at the top: how many updates are pending and where they come from — the package managers, your desktop’s extensions, or the programs that come from no store. The traffic light judges everything the window knows about: it is never green while something is pending. Every row has a coloured edge — red means something needs doing.

Vor jeder Änderung erscheint ein Fenster in Klartext: welche Datei geholt wird, von welcher Adresse, wohin sie kommt und wo Ihre bisherige Fassung bleibt. Erst danach passiert etwas.
Before any change a window appears in plain language: which file will be fetched, from which address, where it goes, and where your current version stays. Only then does anything happen.

Your previous version is kept — exactly one per program, in a folder of Rikus Updateall’s own instead of “Documents”. If something is wrong, the Undo button brings it back. Should anything fail along the way, the program restores the previous state itself.

Where a program comes from is usually recorded inside the program itself. Rikus Updateall reads that — which is why it also works for programs it has never seen. If nothing is found, you enter the project page once.

Grey does not mean "fine"

How to use it
Herunterladen und installieren. Die Datei rikus-updateall_2.55_all.deb landet im Ordner Downloads. Am zuverlässigsten geht es im Terminal, mit dem vollständigen Pfad: sudo apt install ~/Downloads/rikus-updateall_2.55_all.deb Wichtig: Der Befehl muss auf dem Rechner laufen, auf dem die Datei wirklich liegt. Meldet Ihr System „Nicht unterstützte Datei … auf Befehlszeile angegeben“, ist die Datei dort nicht vorhanden — das Paket ist in Ordnung. Meist stimmt der Ordner nicht, oder Sie sitzen über eine Fernverbindung auf einem anderen Rechner. Ein Doppelklick auf die Datei geht auch — aber nur, wenn auf Ihrem Rechner ein Paket-Installierer eingerichtet ist (z. B. GDebi oder der MX Paketinstallierer). Unter KDE Plasma öffnet ein Doppelklick oft nur Discover oder den Archiv-Manager, und dort gibt es keinen Knopf „Paket installieren“. Dann nehmen Sie den Befehl oben.
Download and install.rikus-updateall_2.55_all.deb lands in your Downloads folder. The most reliable way is the terminal, using the full path: sudo apt install ~/Downloads/rikus-updateall_2.55_all.deb Important: run the command on the machine where the file actually is. If your system says “unsupported file … on the command line”, the file is not there — the package is fine. Usually it is the wrong folder, or you are on a different machine over a remote connection. Double-clicking the file works too — but only if a package installer is set up on your machine (e.g. GDebi or the MX Package Installer). Under KDE Plasma a double-click often just opens Discover or the archive manager, where there is no “Install package” button. In that case use the command above.
